Demand is still low and trade activity slow, although there were a couple
large sales of old crop alfalfa.
Folks are trying to clean out old crop hay from their barns to get ready
for new season hay.
New crop price is still elusive, however, with not many wanting to commit
till old crop is gone.
The High Plains was a mixed bag of light to moderate precipitation,
as well as improvements and degradations.
Slight improvements occurred in south and northeast areas of Kansas that
received precipitation.
Elsewhere, conditions in central and western Kansas continued to degrade
as streamflows, soil moisture, and groundwater continued to deteriorate.
The categorical percent area for abnormally dry conditions (D0) decreased
to 29%, moderate drought (D1) decreased to near 17%, severe drought
(D2) increased to 32%, extreme drought (D3) increased to just under
.50% and no exceptional drought (D4) was recorded.
